Autoinflammatory Diseases

Autoinflammatory diseases are a category of diseases that are sometimes confused with autoimmune diseases but are different from autoimmune diseases. They do, however, share common characteristics:
  • increased inflammation
  • the immune system attacking it's own body
Some of the more common autoinflammatory diseases are:
  • Behçet’s Disease
  • Deficiency of the Interleukin-1 Receptor Antagonist (DIRA)
  • Familial Mediterranean Fever (FMF)
  • Neonatal Onset Multisystem Inflammatory Disease (NOMID)
  • Tumor Necrosis Factor (TNF) Receptor-Associated Periodic Syndrome (TRAPS)
